Why teach Intelligent Design in Science class?

Why the need to teach intelligent design in science classes? Because some sects of the religions in the United States feel that they have lost power and control over thier followers minds! This is a way to regain that control. It has very little to do with science, or spirituality. It is simply that someone feels that thier view point is not the top dog on the block.

Science is only one means of trying to explain the how and why of this reality, through observation of the machanics of the physical world. So we have science classes in school, to provide students with workable tools for a physical world.

Religion is another means of trying to explain the how and why of not only this reality but others that can't be measured as of yet by physical tools!

Both these paths to dealing with the physical world are needed to produce a balanced and free spiritual human being, but power games with the minds of our children does't serve ether path well.

Every man has a limited view of reality, and it is only through the sharing of our view with others that we create a better world for our children.

Thank you

I pretty much agree. I am

I pretty much agree. I am writing a series on the 'enemies' of Science. The more research I do the more it seems clear that one of the main enemies in the long run is the extreme scientism many scientists promote.

If Science expects Religion to respect the boundaries of Science then Science must also itself respect the boundaries, otherwise religious concerns will just reemerge again and again.

But it is OK if religious

But it is OK if religious views DO emerge again and again-
evolution cannot pass the scientific method either! So an Intelligent designer must have physical tools to deal with,
created by...? we will never know, and trying to call one theory (Evolution) a science, even though it passes no scientific method , cannot be measured, cannot be duplicated, cannot be modeled by math, doesn't answer the question either.

Question: If Man evolved from apes,- why are there still apes?
why would Man be the ONLY evolved creature that did not leave his ancestor behind and gone?

Evolution is a scientific

Evolution is a scientific theory in that it follows the scientific methods. I.e. you look at nature to support your theory. In evolution the main support comes from the fossil record, but on a small scale you can actually also prove it experimentally. You can have evolution occur in the laboratory with bacteria and insects. And look at the domestic animals. All domestic animals are a result of evolution not by natural selection but by artificial selection. But that is still evolution. They pig has evolved from the wild boar.

Secondly Man does not evolve from any of the extant apes. Ape and man have a common ancestor. But there is no rule that ancestors need to go extinct although it is often the case that the newly evolved species outcompete its ancestor.
