Myopic Greenpeace

Organisations like Greenpeace often like to present their position and views as progressive, sustainable, and long-term wise. Not so in the case of the ITER fusion project in France. On their webpage the following title can be found:

Nuclear fusion reactor project in France: an expensive and senseless nuclear stupidity

Behind the hard rhetoric lies a dogmatic view of anything containing the word 'nuclear' as being somehow inherently evil. The activists of Greenpeace leads imagination towards a character like Don Quijote, only they seem to think the windmills can save the world.

Greenpeace

A similar situation happens in Portugal. We have the Green Party and they say that they exist because of the anti-nuclear war. I doon't think that this should be the main objective of a "Green Party". I would say that it would defend some more ecological/ambiental policies or whatsoever but not exist with the only objective of being anti-nuclear.

I have problemms supporting Greenpeace because although they provide a good defense for a lot of animal rights they have a blind approach. And I must totally disagree with that kind of irracionality. We are scientists and we all have, not only the right, but the responsibility to use our brain and not to mix in the same bag personal opinions and and reasoning.

See you later,

Ambivalence

I think the ambivalence that many people feel towards Greenpeace stems from the dogmatic view of things they seem to have.
